On the Work board you'll find an Empty columns toggle in the top right of the board, with Hide and Show.

Choosing Hide collapses every column with no tasks in it — along with the Completed column — down to a narrow strip, so the columns you're actually working in sit side by side instead of being spread out across empty ones. Nothing is deleted: the collapsed columns stay on the board, and you can click any one of them to open it back up, or select Show to expand them all again.

It works across all the board groupings, not just Process — Client, Assigned, Status and the calendar views all have the same toggle.
